Race Info
Race Day: Saturday 17 May 2025
There are four different events to choose from:
There are three options for children aged 5-13 years:
The first is the LM Party Planning & Events Mini Monster - an easy and short (approx. 2km) course that is suitable for younger children, beginner riders or those who are not experienced or confident riding on trails. This is an excellent option for positive first introduction to our amazing trails and the world of Mountain Biking.
The second option is the Monster Classic, which is approximately 5km. This course is an easy course (the Tourist Trap trail) which would suit most children aged 8 and up with average biking skills, however its definitely possible younger confident riders could complete this course too.
Finally there is the Contact Energy Mega Monster Challenge. This course is approximately 12km in length and involves more challenging trails and is aimed at older riders with a decent amount of mountain biking experience and confidence.
Because children can vary significantly in ability, experience and confidence, there are NO set age limits for any of the courses. This means that there is an option for ANY skill level at ANY age. All of the above events are timed, every rider receives a medal and there are trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Boy and Girl for each course.
Pre-school Aged Children:
The Total Sport Micro Monster Mash is perfect for preschoolers, either by themselves or supported by an adult- up and back through the tunnels on the super fun Hammer It and Nail It tracks (approx. 500m). This event is not timed, so there are no awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. However every mini monster masher will receive a medal and even better- all proceeds from this race go to the legends at Kids Bike Taupō, which will help to get even more Taupō kids on bikes!
